DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A sweet antique five-stone ring known in the trade as a "boat ring" or sometimes "navette ring" - navette coming from the French for little boat. This ones particularly petite/streamlined, set with old cut diamonds and rubies in elongated, scalloped prongs forming open spaces on the gallery to allow light in behind them. It's modelled in 18 karat gold with deeply carved scrolled shoulders and dates from the 1880s.
