1980s 3.80ct Step Cut Ceylon Sapphire Solitaire Ring
1980s 3.80ct Step Cut Ceylon Sapphire Solitaire Ring
$4,530.00
Description
DATE: Modernist, c.1980
A spectacular natural Ceylon sapphire is the centrepiece of this angular, modernist single-stone ring. At 3.80 carats, the stone is natural with no indications of heat treatment mined in Sri Lanka (that's the technical bit), and quite simply it's breathtaking: superb pale cornflower blue colour, great glass-like transparency, and the rectangular step cut with truncated corners that really accentuates the beauty for these paler sapphires. The mount is simple, a bezel setting with head that mimics the profile lines of the stone's pavilion, crafted in 18 karat gold with French hallmarks and a flat, lightly tapered band. Wear it as an engagement ring, minimalist cocktail ring, or - if you're felling bold - it works as a unisex pinky/signet ring.
