DATE: Art Nouveau, c.1930

A charming, oversized butterfly brooch dating from the Art Nouveau period, circa 1930. The wings are set with glistening white paste gemstones, all of different sizes, creating great movement in the wings. With four purple paste stones that are set in the centre, and green and red on the outer and centre parts of the wings. It's a great colour combination, with the addition of an agate body, which rests in-between two silver legs. The antennae are set with further white paste stones, and it's crafted in silver throughout (stamped 935 for German silver) and weighs at and outstanding 203g.
