Description

DATE: Mid-Century, c.1940

This cool torque bangle is modelled in silver and features two gargoyle heads. Gargoyles were originally designed in 13th century French architecture, for the disposing of water. Typically, a trough was cut into the back of the gargoyle and the rainwater was able to run off of the roof and through the gargoyle's mouth. Many considered gargoyles the spiritual protectors of churches as well, scaring off demons and evil spirits.

Each head is ornately decorated, with fierce and kinda scary faces! Its of particularly heavy construction, made to fit a 6.3 inch wrist. Dates from 1940's France.
