DATE: Art Deco, c.1930

Incredible Cartier earrings dating from the Art Deco period, circa 1930. Each one comprising a Siberian amethyst centre with frosted rock crystal oval surround, reminiscent of a life-saver, with diamond set millegrain bands at the compass points. They dangle from millegrain bezel set diamond tops (stud posts) and the backs feature wonderfully intricate chased foliate motifs. Signed and numbered Cartier London, signed period pieces like this don't come up often, and these are quite simply exceptional.
