Edwardian Chatoyant Seashell Curblink Bracelet
Edwardian Chatoyant Seashell Curblink Bracelet
$950.00
Description
DATE: Edwardian, c.1910
An unusual Edwardian curb-link bracelet set with six chatoyant mother-of-pearl-like round stones. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea precisely what they are, but here's my thought process: initially, I thought some particular type of operculum (the term means "little lid," in this context they're used by certain species of sea snail to seal their openings when threatened by predators) on account of the size, shape, and what appear to be concentric growth lines... but there's nothing online that appears to fit this hypothesis. I'm almost certain they're some type of shell, and visually they're gorgeous - with orange, blue, and green iridescence presenting as a distinct line through the middle, an effect known as chatoyancy (or cat's eye). The links are solid 9 karat gold, and it's presented with the original gold heart padlock clasp.
