$500.00
Description
DATE: Antique, c.1920
Johan G. Kjaerland (JGK makers mark) was a well-known Norwegian jeweller and enamelist, in which he specialised in Plique-à-jour work. His business lasted between the years of 1900 and 1920, but his work is fantastic! The term plique-à-jour literally translates into English as "letting in daylight", for the obvious reason that the light is allowed to pass through the coloured enamel work - just like stained glass.
This piece is finished in colourful plique-à-jour enamel, modelled in a flower shape. With a gorgeous flower set in the centre, it's modelled in silver gilt with brooch fittings. Dates to the 1920's.
