Edwardian Pearl, Diamond & Ruby Swan Brooch
$3,800.00
Description
DATE: Edwardian, c.1910
Supreme grace... This stunning antique swan brooch dates from the Edwardian period, circa 1910. The swans body is formed by an imperfectly perfect baroque pearl. It creates that perfect teardrop shape, and the silver neck of the swan pops out. It's set with rose cut diamonds with a ruby eye and gold beak, and it's backed in rosey15k gold. Swans appear throughout folklore and mythology, and they usually symbolize grace and beauty, as mentioned above. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, found swans sacred but they also had the honour of pulling Apollo’s chariot.
