DATE: Victorian, c.1880

A charming antique Scottish brooch crafted in Sterling silver and set with gorgeous hand-cut agate panels. It dates from the Victorian period, circa 1880, and features gorgeous hand-chased patterns and detailing to the buckle, and silver surround. The buckle is a common theme in jewellery from the Victorian period, and back then it symbolised eternity, fidelity, strength and protection as the symbol curves around and threads back onto itself, creating an eternal loop.
