Georgian 18k Gold Cornucopia "Horn of Plenty" Charm
$3,000.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1830
Sublime Georgian Cornucopia pendant dating from the 1830s. The supremely elegant design sees the horn of plenty adorned with little enamelled flowers (powder blue and blood red), four circles of gold ropework at the end, and further bands of ribbed gold wire including two that attach to the bail. The Cornucopia was carried by the Roman goddess Fortuna (Greek: Tyche), the personification of luck, suggesting this charm was likely intended to top up the good luck of its owner, as well as bringing the usual abundance and nourishment.
