"The best things await us in heaven"
A cool Georgian intaglio seal fob dating from the Georgian period, circa 1780. The foil backed citrine base is intaglio carved with the Miller family crest and the motto that reads: OPTIMA COELO, loosely translating to "The best things await us in heaven". The crest depicts a hand with first and second fingers pointing upward, and from my research the Miller family surname, primarily English and Scottish were those who kept, operated or owned mills. In common with many other English surnames, it was first popularised in the wake of the Norman Conquest of 1066 . However, the ancestors of those who would come to adopt it were present throughout the British Isles from a much earlier date. A fantastic piece with lots of history, and a beautiful ornate body complete the piece, crafted in 9k yellow gold.
