Georgian Triple Dice Charm Pendant
Georgian Triple Dice Charm Pendant
$650.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1820
A rare Georgian dice holder charm dating from the early 19th Century, circa 1820. It’s crafted from some sort of bone (likely ox or camel) with gold fittings for wear, and features a sliding lid that opens to reveal three tiny dice with black and red number dots. Given the three dice it was probably intended as a portable way to play the game bunco – a parlour game popular in 19th Century England, and later exported to the US where it gave its name to gambling parlors, or "Bunco parlors", and more generally to any swindle.
Some other games you can play with three dice: Cee-lo, Chuck-a-luck, Craps, Crown and Anchor, Macao, Hog, etc.
