DATE: Victorian, c.1898

Charming late Victorian gypsy ring with sapphires and diamonds in pretty star settings. The row of stones is flanked to either side by engraved, owl-like scrolls and English hallmarks to the inner band indicate 18 karat gold and the year of production as 1898. Beautifully made with a shallow D-shape profile that rests low on the finger. The S.U maker's mark I believe relates to Solomon Ullmann, who had a shop in Hatton Garden - London's jewellery district - during the latter half of the 19th century.
