$500.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, 1830s
A pair of antique Miraculous Medals (aka the Medal of Our Lady of Graces) dating from the 1830s. They're crafted in silver and each feature the Blessed Virgin Mary standing on snakes on one side; the larger one featuring a star and flowers on the other along with the words "Congregation of the Children of Mary", the smaller one with an image of Pope Pius IX and "O Maria Concepita Senza Peccato Pregate Per Noi Che Ricordi Rianno A Voi" (O Mary, Conceived Without Sin, Pray that we remember to return to you). The smaller will have been bought in Rome (dated 1830), probably by a Christian pilgrim, and the larger is likely French based on the design (dated 27th of May 1834).
