DATE: Victorian,c.1880

A cool antique Scottish pendant in the shape of a padlock. It's crafted in 15k yellow gold, with a hinged handle/shackle which opens and closes as a padlock mechanism. The front features four curved Scottish agate panels, showing gorgeous colours of orange, brown, red, green and black. The back features an oval bloodstone panel, and it dates from the Victorian period, circa 1880. This piece was once part of a bracelet, however we think it looks great worn on a chain.

Scotland is known for its abundance of colourful agate which is found in a huge variety of colours and patterns, each type specific to a particular place. Queen Victoria's love for all things Scottish generated high demand for jewellery of this style!
