DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A particularly cool Victorian signet ring with an oval bloodstone panel featuring an intaglio carved lion's head. According to Fairbairn's Book of Crests, this particular lion was the heraldic emblem of a number of British families, including: Bates, Cole, Knott, Long, MacKnight, Murdoch, Nicholson, Powell, Scott, and Steele. The ring itself dates from the latter half of the 19th Century is modelled in 15 karat gold with striking, futuristic details.
