DATE: Victorian, c.1870

An awesome antique signet / poison ring.... but so much more. The head is hinged, opening up to reveal a secret compartment behind the oval sardonyx panel. It's also a Rosary ring, with studs all around the band designed to be used as a physical method of keeping count of the number of Hail Marys said as the mysteries are contemplated. It's modelled in 15 karat gold, and dates from the 1870s.
