DATE: Queen Anne, c.1710

These gorgeous earrings are over 300 years old (!!!) They're set with Queen Ann cushion shaped paste gemstones in a vibrant teal colour, and they're resting in foiled closed back settings that reflects light back out through the stones. The backs are domed to accommodate the deep cut of the stones, which are held in place with finely crimped rubover settings. Made at a time when paste gemstones could command as much as the real things (or more). Not only do they look excellent on, they were made in the early 1700s which is... insane.
