1930's Paste En Tremblant Butterfly Brooch
$450.00
Description
DATE: Art Deco, c.1930
A gorgeous oversized "en tremblant" brooch, modelled as a butterfly, and of course the best part is.. the wings move! The brooch itself features gorgeous openwork, and is set with an array of coloured paste stones. From rich oranges, vibrant purples and pretty blue and yellows, each stone is set alongside applied bead work. Its crafted in silver throughout and dates from the 1930's.
Although this beautiful insect is thought of as "Psyche" - the soul, the butterfly is also believed to be a symbol of change. Their life cycle from a humble caterpillar to a chrysalis and finally a beautiful butterfly mirrors the journey of growth and transformation.
