Description

DATE: Mid-Century, c.1940

Moshe Oved (1885-1958) was born into a Jewish family in Poland in 1885. In 1903 he moved to England and settled in London and established his jewellery shop, Cameo Corner. Legend has it, he would walkaround his shop in a luxurious robe, with a large amethyst on a chain! In the early 1920's, he met a friend and his future wife... A jewellery designer herself, her name was Gwendoline Ethel Rendell. She converted to Judaism and went by the name of Sah Oved. She was a self taught, and worked for many jewellers,  Arts and Crafts jeweller John Paul Cooper to name one.

During the bombing raids of London in 1940, Moshe and his wife were taking refuge in the basement of their store. Whilst sheltering, Moshe was suffering from a hand tremor, in which his wife asked him to make wax models of rings. From this, fantastic models were cast in silver and gold- from lambs, camels, rams, birds and so on. If it weren't for Sah, these rings would never have existed.

This Moshe Oved ring is modelled as a ram and is crafted in 9k yellow gold throughout. It comes complete with a cameo corner box and dates to the 1940's. Fits a US 6.75.
