DATE: Egyptian Revival, c.1920
The Egyptian Revival era of jewellery took place during the Art Deco period, when Tutankhamun's Tomb was discovered. These two pieces; a charming Egyptian Revival Moses basket charm and sarcophagus pendant are both crafted in silver throughout.
The front of the moses basket is finished in fine enamel detailing, depicting a camel and it's owner sat on a sandy beach, with a pyramid in the distance. It's hinged down one side and opens to reveal a gilded interior and baby Moses, which can be taken out of the basket. The sarcophagus charm, opening to reveal a (removable) gilded and enamelled mummy. The exterior is intricately detailed, with blue, green and black enamel symbols, a snake, lotus flower, bird, and other Ancient Egyptian iconography.
