A cool antique charm modelled as a claret wine jug, dating from the Victorian period, circa 1880. The body is made up of banded agate with a panel at the bottom. It's crafted in 15k gold and would make a great addition to your charm bracelet.
The name 'Claret' has a French origin and means 'bright' or 'clear' and refers to a bright French Bordeaux wine. Although glass was used for drinking vessels since the earliest times, only in the 19th Century saw the development of the 'Claret Jug', where silversmiths added lids and handles.
