Late Victorian Multigem Artist's Palette Brooch
Late Victorian Multigem Artist's Palette Brooch
$1,950.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1900
Cool late Victorian bar brooch featuring an artist's palette, complete with gem-set "paint" colours and paintbrushes with enamelled tips as if they've just been used. Perfect for an artist or art-lover alike; crafted in 15 karat gold throughout and dates from the turn of the 20th century. At first I wondered if, as well as the gemstones representing different colours of paint, they might spell out a word acrostically... but now I think that's unlikely... the word options would be: coders (not really a thing back then), credos (I mean... maybe?), decors (almost certainly not), or scored (would be hilarious, but I think again likely not). The stones are: emerald, diamond, sapphire, ruby, citrine, and in the middle an opal. The latter, of course, mixing up the other five colours quite beautifully.
