DATE: Victorian, c.1860
Large and striking mid Victorian (working) whistle pendant with silver top and mother of pearl body. The mother of pearl has a gorgeous iridescent sheen as it moves through the light (which is proving quite tricky to capture with the camera). With stylised shell motif to the front and back, and a bail for wear on a chain. Most probably designed to recall the hounds.
