DATE: Victorian, c.1870

An elegant Victorian seal locket dating from the 1870s. The main body is shield shaped, and features a carnelian agate to the front, and a bloodstone to the back, with a crouching lion holding a ball under its paw on top. It opens to reveal two glass locket compartments within. The quality and craftsmanship are excellent, with fine hand-chased detailing and an applied ropework border.
