This beautiful Vintage butterfly brooch is made by David-Andersen, the famed Norwegian Jeweller, and dates to circa 1950. It features colourful enamel hand-painted wings, with oranges, blues, yellow and greens, it's crafted from plated sterling silver. Remains in great condition.
Widely considered one of the best Norwegian goldsmiths and silversmiths, David Anderson's high quality artworks brought him immediate success, and his firm were awarded a gold medal at the 'Exposition Universelle' in Paris, 1900. When David died, in 1901, his son Arthur took over the company and changed his surname to David-Andersen. He then introduced the enamel technique and the Art Nouveau style receiving a wide consent.
