Late Victorian Ceylon Cornflower Sapphire Solitaire Ring
Late Victorian Ceylon Cornflower Sapphire Solitaire Ring
$2,000.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, 1896
Cool Late Victorian solitaire ring set with a vibrant 1.5 carat Ceylon cornflower sapphire. The stone is gorgeous, a natural Sri Lankan sapphire mined and cut circa 1890; it’s a slightly asymmetrical “native” cut (meaning it was cut on location at the mine) and displays an intense mid blue colour - particularly vivid and with great brilliance. It's set in an 18k gold solitaire mount with eight claws and deeply grooved shoulders; Birmingham hallmarks indicate it was made in the year 1896.
