DATE: Victorian, c.1900

An interesting antique panel ring featuring nine framed symbols. Various animals (birds, quadrupeds), people engaged in mysterious tasks, and more abstract iconography reminiscent of scales or temples adorn each of the square faces... at first I thought they were zodiac but that doesn't add up... possibly Egyptian Hieroglyphs? What I can tell you is that it bears English hallmarks for 18k gold, and dates from the turn of the 20th century, maybe a little earlier.
