It remains in fantastic (and working) condition and dates from the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Bailey & Kitchen, as it was originally known, was founded in Philadelphia, on September 20, 1832. The firm sold fashionable jewellery as well as silverware and precious pieces. In 1846, Joseph Bailey (one of the original owners) invited his brother into the business and in 1878, Joseph’s son made a partnership with two other jewellers: George Banks and Samuel Biddle. The result of this was Bailey, Banks, and Biddle. The business offered high-quality jewellery and were even commissioned to design the first 40,000 Purple Hearts for the United States military.
