DATE: Georgian, c.1800
A cool and gothic necklace dating from the Georgian period, circa 1800. In the early 19th century, woven iron wire necklaces, also called Silesian wirework was known to to have been made in Silesia, Germany and Poland. It's also known as Berlin Iron. This particular piece features an articulated cross and medallion along with a chain too. The wirework is amazing, with thousands of tiny loops of continuous wire to create the shapes, woven like lace and light as air. It's wearable length is 14 inches and remains in great condition.
