“In the enchanted world of jewellery, every piece must be original in its execution.” – Gilbert Albert
Gilbert Albert was born in 1930 in Geneva, and later studied at the l’Ecole des Arts Industriels. From an early age, his father instilled in him a love and appreciation of the natural world. From this, you can see this stayed with him in his later jewellery work. In 1955 he worked for Patek Philippe, a watchmaker, as designer and head of workshop. He designed a variety of watched, with unusual features, and even won the "Diamonds International Award" three times! He then went onto working for OMEGA, before he set up his own business in jewellery design. He used fantastic materials such as fossils, scarab shells and was the first to use meteorites in jewellery. Among his most well-known pieces are his sculptural gold clip on earrings, intertangle cocktail rings and pendants.
This interchangeable cocktail ring comes with six interchangeable beads, each one a different coloured gem: Tigers eye, hematite, black onyx, carnelian agate, blue chalcedony and green agate. The stones can be swapped and changed, within the 18k gold ring. The ring itself, sculptural and unusual with organic and textured patterns, and the top part, fitted like a basket to hold the beads. It dates from the 1970's and comes complete with a Gilbert Albert box.
