Description

DATE: Georgian, c.1820

A fine quality Georgian seal fob, a good substantial size and gorgeous decorated. The base is set with a carnelian panel, intaglio carved with a dog amongst a grassy scene. Dogs in jewellery often present the image of the faithful hound, or the “man’s best friend”. A lovely symbol of loyalty and dependability. The fob itself is deeply chased with foliate detailing, and it features gold fittings. This would have originally been worn on the end of a gentleman's watch chain, but would equally make a gorgeous pendant - worn on a gold chain.
