Georgian Lady Hope Patch Box
Georgian Lady Hope Patch Box
$800.00
Description
DATE: George III, c.1805
This very special little object is a patch box... dating from the late Georgian era, it would have been used to store cosmetic patches worn on the skin to cover blemishes. Crafted in silver, with a beautiful miniature painting on the top (under domed glass) depicting Lady Hope leaning on an anchor by the sea awaiting the return of her lover, with a ship in full sail on the horizon. It was made around 1805, and remains in fantastic condition.
